What the Riders need to do to win:
I am not going to go into the usual like win the turnover and special teams battle cause that's obvious and insulting all of your intelligence to suggest you can't figure that out.
-Protect Kevin Glenn. He does not have Darian's ability to shake off tackles. Glenn's quick release will help with this. As will establishing a run. Ironic that with all the concerns about Chapdelaine not running the ball, the most questionable call last week was the 2nd down draw.
-Don't squander scoring chances. A missed FG and a pick in the scoring zone led to one point on those two drives. In a 4 point game, that was a killer. Overall the offense was not bad last week. We will face a better D this week, but also get Dressler back. Screen passes and misdirection can slow down the Argo rush. The Argos have athletic corners. Can our WRs beat them? We need them to.
-Defense. Way better tackling obviously. At least two Bomber TD drives were extended by sloppy tackling where the ball carrier should have been stopped leading to a kick. With playmakers like Whitaker, Durie, and Owens, this is critical. Our linebackers have to be able to handle Whitaker, not just when he runs, but also when the Argos throw the ball to him. Our middle in pass coverage was weak last week imo. Hopefully Brackendrige patrolling the middle will halp this. It looked like Harris, Knox, and Doughty at LB with Connop and Tennant rotating at one DL spot. If Regibald comes in we don't need him to be the next Danny Bass, but we need him to be competent.
I am going to stick with the green colored glasses and think this team shakes off the week 1 game. Montreal proved last week not to take everything you saw in week 1 and use it to lock in week 2. I think the Riders squeak out a nerveracking 27-24 win.
