Maybe the girls on here can help me out.
I have had long hair forever and have decided to go and cut it, but now i am nervous. I don't know how short i am going to go i am just going to leave it up to the salon.
anyone done this?

I went to a little shop in Coventry Hills Shopping Centre on Monday. I walk in right away and the cutest asian girl was assigned to me. She asks how I would like to have my hair cut and I said something shorter for summer and we go over the game plan in detail. A hair cut that should have taken 10 or 15 minutes ended up taking 30 minutes because we had to keep going shorter cause she kept screwing it up. Now I look like I am about to enroll into a military boot camp, pffft. Not trying to scare you but man, I hate my haircut...luckily it grows back.

As for you, not too short, especially if you are looking for a man still. I think most guys would perfer longer hair but then again, if your hot, your hot, and it won't matter much.

Pay for a haircut? Get a set of electric clippers for $20 and you got free haircuts for at least 5 years. Looks cool too. Rwilco recommends!

Electric Razor??? No way go buy a FloBee, vacuum cleaner and hair trimmer all in one. No fuss no mess!!! Does anyone remember those infomercials. Probably the funniest infomercials ever!!

Amen. Even the girls that look good with short hair still look 10x better with it long 99% of the time.

If your hair is healthy, leave it long! You can get short layers all around, and do the whole side part with bangs thing. However, most men, and women, notice hair on someone first. What's the first thing you see when you look in the mirror, or what's the first thing you do when you come in from the wind outside? You notice and fix your hair!! That's how important it is. Seriously, leave it long if possible. Unless you see something you really like in a photo, and have a hairdresser who you know can give you the look. Just remember, you'll be in charge of styling it everyday, and long hair is easier to do than short hair. If all else fails, Ponytail/Pigtails, and Rider hat!! lol Just some advice, but have fun with it!!

PS - My hair is the most important feature I have I think, that's why I'm so fussy!! :)

Agreed. That might even apply to the odd (and I do mean odd) kicker. lol.

But, seriously... long is good.
RG's style is excellent (but that's not "short" per se, so I consider it still long).

well its done.
Its still past my shoulders and she took like 6 inches off, but i guess it WAS long enough to cover my boobs before.
she also dyed it brown with blonde highlights.

I love having a friend who works at a Salon, cheap hair cuts that look good, cheap dye jobs, and cheap hair product.....I LOVE IT!

True, but it gets really embarrasing when I fiddle with my hair & then ten minutes later a friend points out how a gust of wind must have blown my nose over by my ear. :D

The key to getting a great hair cut and subsequent style regardless of length is to go to a really good stylist and salon. Seriously, it is worth the extra cash because you will look fabulous and you'll like it. I have naturally curly hair and couldn't find anyone who knew how to handle and cut it until I got referred to a fabulous salon and met a stylist who has naturally curly hair like mine. I went from long to short and didn't mind at all because I loved it. I left it up to him and he was great!

Trust me, shop around and get consultations from the really good stylists and you won't be disappointed.

Stick with the longer hair. I think shoulder length still qualifies so

Of course, that comes from the male self-centered, perverted viewpoint....but I mean, is there really any other?

You're braver than I am. The shortest my hair has been since I was 13 is about 3 inches below my shoulders. Every summer I say I'm going to cut it short, but I chicken out! These guys are right though, most girls do look better with their hair a little longer.

While we're on the subject or hair...what would be a reasonable price to pay for highlights? And can you recommend anyone in Regina? I've tried those at home kits before and they never turn out right. My hair is naturally blonde and I just want some subtle highlights...just to brighten it up a bit!

home kits FRY my hair.... literally, i used one once with a friend and my hair was steaming and see-thru after FIVE minutes.
